Twitter
Maaaz Aljunaibi ID: H00216601 presented in room C001 at 11:00 on 26th May 2013. Maaaz’s presentation contained a lot of useful information about twitter and about the features that twitter contains and it was arranged in an easy way to present and to deliver the ideas. Also from the way Maaaz was speaking it shows how confident he is and how he is interested in the subject. The format of his presentation was so clear and didn’t have a lot of bullet points; maximum two bullets each slide with good English fluency. It’s obvious that he was prepared and did practice before presenting; he also answered the questions that the students asked him about the application and how to use it. He didn’t use any note cards to remember the headlines but it didn’t make any issues for the subject. In my opinion I think Maaaz was practicing well to present in a perfect way using his fluency in speech that came from his experience and practicing. He showed us briefly the positives and the negatives of twitter.

Traveling
Sultan AlQubaisi ID: H00247456  presented in room C001 at 11:00 on 30th  April 2013. At the start he said good morning everybody, I will take you on a trip with my camera around the world, and Sultan opened his subject very well also in an interesting way. He didn’t focus on the eye contact maybe because he was nervous; he was standing at the side of the screen which helped us to see well. He was talking very well and it shows how he is good in talking in English. He started to feel comfortable talking about the countries he visited when he saw the good interaction from the viewers. He used some note cards to remember the headlines but it didn’t make any issues or interruptions for the subject; also in his presentation he didn’t put a lot of text, just pictures, and he descripted each picture. In my opinion I think Sultan was practicing well to present in a perfect way using his fluency in speech that came from his experience and practicing. He showed us briefly the beauty of three countries he visited: France, the United kingdom and Morocco.

Meeting reflection



Meeting reflection:

It was one of the most successful meetings which I had set with my colleagues. I learnt many  things; firstly we discussed which topic we were going to choose and we chose the Emiratisation as a problem that needs to be solved, being one of the issues that we as the United Arab Emirates citizens are facing. Then we started the meeting with four students of CLZ in room C001 on Sunday17th March 2013 at 11:35. Mohamed Awadh, H00230922, as chairman opened the meeting which was to come up with solutions HCT can pursue. Khalfan, H00255135, explained to us the meaning of Emiratisation and why it’s difficult to apply in the private sector; also why the graduates prefer to join the public sector instead of the private sector and that is because of the high average of salaries and the stability the public sector enjoys, Hamed, H00253623 suggested that HCT should provide a youth forum to provide students with the necessary expertise and to motivate them to get involved in the private sector. Hamed suggested another solution to apply the Emiratisation in the private sector by participation of the private sector companies offering scholarships and internships to guide training and assign students to work in the company concerned. Khalfan agreed and added that’s a way to get the right experience to have the ability to work in the company concerned. Saeed, H00232957, talked about other solutions like career fairs and reducing the benefits of the public sector to equal the private sector to attract students to join the private sector; also career fairs are an idea to collect as many as possible of private sector companies to collect the applications from students and at the same time to introduce the students to the benefits and duties of the private sector companies. Mohamed then moved the meeting on to the next item on the agenda and the most efficient one which was the privatization. Khalfan said it’s the best way to attract the graduates to the private sector, like Abu Dhabi police had privatized its accidents delineation section to a company called SAAD. Also Mr. Hedley confirmed that privatization would solve more problems, as it had in the U.K.
Mohamed opened and closed the meeting in an appropriate manner. He spoke fluently and was an effective chairman throughout. There was evidence of turn-taking, listening and supportive language towards others from all participants. All attendees demonstrated awareness and understanding of the topic. All made relevant contributions.

1. Emiratization:
Khalfan said that Emirtatization is a good Idea to help local people to work in the private sector and it’s an idea invented by the government ten years ago to hire the possible number of citizens people to work in the private sector.
2.Government sector / private sector:
Khalfan explained the difference between the private sector and the public sector; the government sector follows the rules of the government, but the private sector has less commitment to rules.
Khalfan kept saying the government sector provides its workers with high salaries and security in work unlike the private sector, which has low salaries and no stability.
3.Youth forum:
Mohamed asked what are the solutions to apply the theory of Emiratization?

Hamed said that the first step HCT should take the graduate students with experience and that will happen by a lot of experience courses and opening a youth forum like Mubadla youth forum, to motivate students to get involved in the private sector.
4.Internship in the private sector:
Hamed continued the second solution that we will discuss which is the internship in the private sector and that needs companies from the private sector to sign an agreement with HCT for scholarships with the students to guide training and assign students to work in the company concerned. Khalfan added that’s a way to get the right experience to have the ability to work in the company concerned to achieve perfection in work. Also Mohamed said that to start this idea HCT should include a course for developing experience and qualities of teamwork and individuality.
5.Career fairs:
Saeed talked about a solution, which is a career fair. HCT should organize career fairs including more companies from the private sector than from the government sector; also to introduce the students to the benefits and duties of the private sector companies.
6.Reduce the benefits of the government sector:
Saeed also added that government should reduce the benefits of their newly signed up employees to equal them with the private sector employees like the insurance and the retirement salary.
Mohammed argued that we can’t equal the two sectors together because there is a big difference between them.
Saeed then said it’s only a fact to change people’s idea of the private sector.
Mr. Hedley also said the new contract needs to be more realistic.
7. Privatization:
Khalfan mentioned a solution which all the group considered the best solution that is privatization. Privatization means to change a public sector to a private sector. For example, Abu Dhabi police had privatized its accidents delineation section to a company called SAAD.
Mr. Hedley confirmed that privatization would solve more problems, as it had in the U.K.
In conclusion:
Convincing people to be enroll in the private sector.
The government sector follows the rules of the government, the private sector has less commitment to HCT should provide youth forums to the students.
Private sector companies should offer internship to current students.
HCT needs to organize career fairs introducing the private sector.
      Try to equate the government sector and the private sector.
      Privatize some of the public sector companies

The interviewed: Ahmed Abdulkarem

INTRODUCTION:
The interview took place in room C001 of ADMC on Sunday 3rd March, 2013 at 10:45 a.m. The interviewee was Ahmed, who was applying for the post of football coach. I was the report writer, while detailed questions were asked by Sultan Ahmed, H00247456, and Hamad Alkhoori, H00251326.
So I will discuss in my report the interview that has been done by Abdulla and in my report I will talk about how well or bad he did in his interview. Abdulla introduced himself as a professional football coach with good multiple experiences and a lot of achievements.

The Appearance:

Abdulla’s appearance was good wearing the formal clothes of the UAE; also he was talking clearly but at the same time he looked nervous and not so confident which was clear from his body language; maybe because he wasn’t ready or prepared; that was obvious when he took time to think of an answer.

The Voice and Language:

Ahmed was speaking in a low voice but understandable because he was nervous; he tried to take time between one sentence and another to figure what to say next; also his language was acceptable by virtue of that English is not his first language.

The Preparation:

It was obvious Ahmed had some problems; it may be a confidence problem or shyness problems which was the result of a lack of preparation.


Easiest and hardest question:  

As I saw I think the easiest question Ahmed faced is about his career and what achievements he achieved; Ahmed answered quite quickly: it was beautiful and full of practical trophies tournaments.
And about the hardest question it was when Hamad asked him about what goals did he attain in the previous career; he I answered in a way that was reluctant: I’m trying to focus on the youth team.

Overall appraisal:

The job he applied for is a difficult job which needs a confident man with big experience to handle it; about that Sultan asked Ahmed: can you work under pressure? Ahmed answered the question in an unconfident way that showed his weakness handling a situation under pressure.

I don’t think he is going to be accepted for the job because this team needs a coach with qualities who’s able to motivate the team and he must be very patient to handle the team for achieving goals and the Etisalat League.
